As Halloween draws close, news reports of satanic rituals are making global headlines and in what police suspect was a religious satanic procession, an 18-year-old girl was burned alive in South Africa’s Johannesburg park last weekend.
Kirsty Theologo, 18, and her 16-year-old friend named only as Bronwyn, were attacked at a remote beauty spot in the Linmeyer suburb of Johannesburg.
Police say Kirsty has died as the poor teen was set ablaze in a satanic ritual. The death of Kirsty occurred on Friday while at a hospital, after suffering 75 per cent burns to her upper body, while Bronwyn was under medical supervision at a private clinic.
Kirsty, Bronwyn and at least six others reportedly gathered at a swimming pool in a suburban area behind some rocks. During the incident, the two girls were doused in petrol by the other group members after being tied up. Later, someone threw a match at the helpless girls; to set them on fire.
According to brief but shocking details of the tragic incident, at least four young men were charged for their involvement in Kirsty’s death and now they face murder charges. Initially, the youngsters faced attempted murder charges but after Kirsty’s death one week after she was set ablaze; the charges against them will be changed, said spokeswoman Lorraine Van Emerik.
The force spokeswoman added: “Since the incident, we have been informed by members of the community that the attack could have been linked to some sort of satanic ritual. It is too soon to be able to confirm or rule this out but it remains an active line of enquiry. We are investigating these claims to establish what substance they have.
The other victim, whom police described as Kirsty’s friend, was burned too but not as badly as Kirsty thus she survived; Kirsty ended up with aforementioned serious injuries including severe burns to her lungs, conveyed hospital authorities. Investigations are ongoing to determine further details.
