PDP Is Not Only Thinking Of One Prosperous Nigeria But One Africa – Tukur

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bamanga Tukur, on Tuesday reassured Nigerians that the PDP is determined to give the kind of good life anybody could wish anywhere in the world.

Tukur said this while receiving the 2011/12 report of the National Congress and Planning Committee of the party in Abuja.

He emphasized that PDP is not only thinking of one prosperous Nigeria but one Africa.

Hear him: “We may be of different ethnicity but our differences are our strength. Our diversity is our greatest strength. PDP is always working to ensure that Nigeria is one nation one people. We are not only thinking of oneness but Africanness.”

He lamented that “people who should know better are now saying that they wish Nigeria is not what it is today.”

Thanking the committee for doing a good job, the national chairman assured that the recommendations by the committee would be put to good use to serve as a guiding light for proper running of the party in the next four years.

Earlier, while submitting the report, Chairman of the National Congress and Planning Committee, Ojo Maduekwe, said before this current leadership, PDP was like an aircraft without radar.

Eulogizing the new national chairman, Mr. Maduekwe said, “We now have a chairman with a global reach; a chairman who will take us to a desired destination.”

However, Mr. Maduekwe said the committee owed the new national chairman a duty to make suggestions alongside the appreciations.

“This is the time to raise the bar at all levels. This is the time to stop being complacence because of its obvious security implications,” he said.

Mr. Maduekwe called for the expulsion from the party of anybody whose utterances are not in consonant with the party’s agenda, mission and vision.

“Reckless statements and utterances must be sanctioned by the party. Those undermining the unity of the nation should be expelled from the party,” Mr. Maduekwe said.

The committee also advised the National Working Committee of the Party to start regular meetings at all levels to discuss not only election matters but policy matters as well, saying, “We are not only a ruling party but a governing party.”
