The Vice-Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bauchi State, Rev. Timothy Aneke says Sunday’s suicide bombing of two churches in Yelwa area of Bauchi State is designed to instigate war between Muslims and Christians in the state.
Aneke said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi on Wednesday.
“My own understanding is to put the Muslims and the Christians at war.
“We must reject this, because we share the same market, we drink the same water, we follow the same road, and this aim, if they succeed in making me feels bad about a fellow Muslim that is my neighbour, they have succeeded.
“But if we all, both Muslims and Christians open our mouth and condemn this in totality, they will see that one, they have fail, and they will begin to rethink.
“The aim of this entire act, it is to put us at war, we are not at war with each other, we are to our brother’s keeper.”
Also reacting, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), North East zone, Rev Shuaibu Byal, called for prayers and calm among both Christians and Muslims.
“I still want to appeal for calmness, for continues prayers by good people of this state, whether you are a Christian or Muslim.
“The power of prayers is that it can destabilise the efforts of evil people out there. And all of us, Christians and Muslims, alike, must come together.”
