Nigerian Photographer, Obi Nwokedi Captures Traditional Wedding With Barbie Dolls (PHOTOS)

Obi Nwokedi So I got bored sometime last December, and then came across French photographer Beatrices’ Barbie and Kens’ wedding shoot, and with some inspiration from the black Barbie shoot on Italian Vogue, I decided to create a Nigerian Traditional wedding shoot with black Barbie and Ken. It started up as a pretty simple shoot that would have taken about a week or so, and ended up taking up to 5 months. I had to enlist my wife to help out with the outfits, as well as with searching the internet for all the little accessories. Anyway, I’m glad its now done, and glad I can get rid of the dolls…

I was beginning to get weird looks from my son whenever I came home with a barbie and he’s asking if it was for him or his baby sister.

I hope you like the shoot:

Of course loads of dollars had to be sprayed. Really love these mini dollar bills I found online, they look so cute in real life

About Obi Nwokedi
My name is Obi Nwokedi, and I’m a London based photographer, who with my team, loves shooting weddings, fashion and portraits, however, we occasionally photograph other social events, concerts, and night life.

I’m afraid, I don’t have any emotional story about getting a camera as my 14th birthday present, or how my father was a photographer. I’m a regular IT analyst who a couple of years back, simply happened across some amazing photos online, and a passion was ignited. So after loads photography books, thousands of images shot, countless hours on photo forums, and several years later, here I am, using my God given talents to do what I simply love doing.
