Panic As Another Fuel Tanker Crashes Near Scene Of Last Fire Incident

Petrol tanker crash near the scene of last Thursday’s fire incident spread panic around Okogbe community this morning when it crashed near the mass grave of about 90 victims of last week disaster.

Sources have put the death toll from the last week’s incident at over 200.

Meanwhile, there was a fresh scare in the area this morning following another accident near the mass grave of about 90 victims of that disaster.

A source said: “Early this morning, another fuel tanker crashed at Okogbe, near the scene of a similar incident which ended in fatal fire disaster last week.

“Today’s incident, the second within the week, has caused unbearable traffic jam on the East-West Road, making movements a hell for motorist.”

It would be recalled that another NNPC fuel tanker fell near Kaiama, spilling its petrol into a roadside ditch.

The gridlock this morning had stretched from the spot where the tanker fell well beyond Mbiama (Yenagoa Junction) at the time of this report.

  1. Let’s hope and pray the people of this area will not rush for the collection of petrol, as they did lastweek which lead to the fire outbreak.
