The three gunmen, who reportedly drove to the residence on a motor bike shot at the two policemen on duty in the house and killed the cobbler who was polishing the shoes of one of the policemen at the VP’s home at Baba Ahmed Road, Tudun Wada, Zaria.
The mobile policemen on guard and the assailants were engaged in a gun battle around 11.30 .am. However, a cobbler was hit by a stray bullet who died instantly.
Two police officers sustained bullet wounds on their legs and arms and have since been rushed to the Ahamdu Bello University Teaching Hospital for treatment.
The Acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abubakar Balteh, confirmed the report.
He said the cobbler died on the spot from a stray bullet following the exchange of fire between the policemen and their attackers.

Report reaching us says unknown gunmen have attacked the family home of Vice President Namadi Sambo on Baba Ahmed Road in Tudun Wada area of Zaria, Kaduna state.
The gunmen reportedly drove by the house and shot at two policemen guarding the house and fled the scene after the attack.
