Not less than 16 persons died on Wednesday when an 18-seater passenger bus heading towards Abuja from Kaduna plunged into a river near Rijiana village along the Kaduna/Abuja highway.
It was not immediately clear how many people were in the vehicle or whether there were survivors.
Kaduna sector commander of the Federal, Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Olamike Olagunju, confirmed it. He said the commission has dispatched a rescue team to the scene of the accident.
Details of the accident are still sketchy as at press time.
