Chinua Achebe
The rumoured death of foremost writer of classic novel, Things Fall Apart, Prof. Chinua Achebe, has been described as “untrue.” Achebe’s son, Chidi, made the revelation to Vanguard, Thursday, via an e-mail message from his US base.
It will be recalled that Achebe, whose recent work, There Was A Country, generated a lot of debate about Nigerian Civil War, was alleged to have died in the US by a Lagos-based newspaper.
Dr. Chidi Achebe said: “This is lent season and I believe that this untrue gossip is spiritual distraction and I need to be in tune with God.”
I hate those of our people who always bring their colonial slave mentality religion into every thing they say with a view to side track lively debate.
They are more Catholic than the Pope I hate them.
