Controversy trails Osinbajo’s assent to 2017 budget

There is increasing controversies over the readiness of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to assent to the 2017 budget.

Early reports in some section of the media yesterday indicated that barring any last minute change of decision, the Acting President would sign the fiscal document into law today at 9:00am.

Minister of Information of Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, while speaking to State House Correspondents shortly after yesterday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, presided over by Acting President Osinbajo, however explained that the appropriation bill was still being studied by the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.

He said:”On the issue of budget, it’s being reconciled and we are all coordinating with the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.”

Similarly, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, confirmed that consultations were still ongoing on the budget. New Telegraph
