Berger Paints sacks all its staff (Copy of sack letter included)
The Management of Berger Paints Nigeria Plc has fired all its staff.
The company sacked its workforce following a strike action embarked on by staff members who were protesting the new living wage implemented by the company.
The protest which began, June 12 and lasted for over one week.
The new wage stops gratuity payment and adds the money to staff’s monthly salary, so that upon retirement, you get no gratuity. It was implemented under the guise of salary increment.
The sacked staff have been asked to reapply if they are still interested in working for the company.
The company in a statement to its staff said: “In the light of the above and haven refused to obey the directives of the Federal Ministry Of Labour & Productivity to call of the strike and resume duties, all concerned employees are deemed to have abandaoned their duty and management has decided to shut down the company effectively today Monday June 19th 2017. All willing employees who wish to work for the company will have to reapply for employment consideration and such applications will be processed and suitable candidates will be contacted."
