PHOTOS: Ex-Jigawa governor Saminu Turaki re-arranged, remanded in prison
A former governor of Jigawa State, Saminu Turaki, who was recently arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, was today re-arranged at FCT High Court, Maitama Abuja, on a 32 count charge of conspiracy and money laundering.
The court on Tuesday ordered his remand in Kuje Prison, Abuja.
Justice Dimgba gave the order shortly after EFCC arraigned Turaki and three companies on 32 counts of money laundering offences involving about N37bn.
Mr. Turaki was arrested about two weeks ago at the International Conference Centre, Abuja by operatives of the agency at the launch of a book on the late Zakariya Maimalari, titled: The First Regular Combatant.
Law enforcement agents had been unable to arrest him since a warrant for his arrest was issued by a federal court more than four years ago.
His case was adjourned till September 19, 2017 at the Dutse Judicial Division.
