Neymar clashes with Barcelona fans as tempers flare in the city ahead of his record-breaking £198m move (PHOTOS)
Neymar has been pictured getting embroiled in an angry bust-up with Barcelona fans as he prepares to leave the club in a record-shattering transfer.
The Brazilian, who is on the verge of putting pen to paper at Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth a staggering £198million, had to be held back by security as he argued with supporters in a car park of an exclusive nightclub in the city.
Getting wind of reports he had asked to leave Nou Camp, Barcelona fans had put up posters mocking the striker, 25, reading, 'Wanted: traitor and mercenary', as the atmosphere in Catalonia turned nasty.
The incident happened last week, but the pictures only emerged today.
In the snaps, burly security guards can be seen smiling as they hold Neymar Jr back.
The footballer, wearing a red cap and a vest, is anything but happy as he scowls at fans who are out of shot.
Local reports suggest the confrontation was only a verbal one, and that it happened the night before the Spanish giants left on their pre-season tour of the US.
Having returned from America, he visited Barcelona's training ground today on the Western edge of the city.
He stayed for just 43 minutes as he said goodbye to his soon-to-be former team-mates ahead of his move to Ligue 1.
This afternoon, Lionel Messi penned an emotional farewell to his friend and former striking partner.
Posting a video to Instagram, Messi wrote: 'It was an enormous pleasure to have shared all these years with you, friend.
'I wish you luck in this new stage of your life. See you. I love you.’
Within minutes, Neymar had replied to the video on Instagram, writing: 'Thanks, brother. I will miss you, uncle.'
If the transfer to France is successful, it will eclipse previous records for the world's most expensive footballer - Welshman Gareth Bale (£85million) and Frenchman Paul Pogba (£89million) - by more than a million pounds.
