Senator Mohammed Garba Gadi dies in Indian hospital


Former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Mohammed Garba Gadi, has died in an Indian hospital.

He died at age 70.

According to a statement on Tuesday by Capt Muhammad Bala, his remains will be brought to Kano via Lagos. 

His funeral will be in Azare.

Senator Gadi had a distinguished career in the public services of the defunct North Eastern State and Bauchi State respectively rising to the rank of Permanent Secretary before his retirement and foray to the murky waters of politics. He was elected Deputy Governor of Bauchi State in 2007. 

He was also previously elected Senator.

He was a consummate and accomplished administrator. 

He was appointed Chairman of the defunct CPC Merger/Alliance Committee by the then General Muhammadu Buhari in January 2013 to negotiate with the defunct Action Compress of Nigeria.


He was one of the founding fathers of the All Progressives Congress. He was appointed Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University, Gombe.


The late politician is survived by three wives and 15 children.
