After retiring from football, Rio Ferdinand announces plan to become professional boxer (PHOTOS, VIDEO)
Two years after retiring from football, former England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is looking to become a professional boxer.
The 38-year-old Ferdinand will be trained by former WBC super-middleweight champion Richie Woodhall who has worked with Britain's Olympic team.
The retired soccer player's move into boxing is linked to a betting company renowned for stunts. It was forced to apologize Monday after offering odds on whether a dead coach - Ugo Ehiogu - would be hired as the next manager of second-tier team Birmingham.
He has transformed from a lean young defender to body-building boxer with a huge change to his physique.
