Kanye West put on some weight and internet is freaking out (PHOTOS)

Kanye West became the target of online body shamers after debuting his fuller figure.

The husband of Kim Kardashian has been laying low since cancelling his Saint Pablo tour last year, after he was hospitalised amid reports of an emotional breakdown.

Despite taking a break from the spotlight, the dad-of-two still knows how to cause a stir, and he did just that when he stepped out in Los Angeles earlier this week.

Sporting a noticeably fuller figure, the Fade rapper was snapped wearing an all-black outfit consisting of a baggy T-shirt and loose-fitted jeans.

While the 40-year-old is notorious for scowling at the paparazzi, he appeared happy and upbeat as he flashed a winning smile for the cameras.

Despite the scorching sun, he could be seen holding on tightly to his jacket as he walked past the waiting photographers.

Following the release of the photos, the musician's fans have spoken out about his drastically different look, with some taking to Twitter to body shame him.

One cruel tweet read: "What is Kim feeding him?"

Making reference to the Kardashian matriarch, another wrote: "The Kris Jenner curse... all the men who enter that household never come out the same. Save Yeezus, oh dear Jesus."

"He's looking a little chub, nah? That dad body," one Twitter user said.

In light of the body shaming taunts, Kanye's supporters were quick to leap to his defence.

Slamming the judgemental comments, one disgruntled viewer posted: "Imagine merely going about your existence and someone pinpoints out all your flaws, not nice. You must be unhappy with yourself. Do better."

Pointing out that the rapper looked upbeat, another said: "People are roasting & fat shaming Kanye West, but y'all missing the bigger picture. This is the most we've seen Kanye West smile in years.

Suggesting that Kanye's change in appearance may be related to reports he and wife Kim have hired a surrogate to carry their third child, a supporter tweeted: "He put on some daddy weight. I love him regardless."

"The fat shaming of Kanye West comes from malcontents happy to see a successful person be less than perfect," one impassioned Twitter user added.
