Lesotho's Army chief, Khoantle Motsomotso, assassinated by his subordinates
Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) commander, Lt. Gen. Khoantle Motsomotso, was assassinated by his subordinates on Tuesday.
He was shot dead along with two other senior officers at an army barracks, the principal secretary for the southern African nation's military said.
Colonel Tanki Mothae provided no further details about the incident but a press conference was scheduled to be held later in the day.
The mountain kingdom has been through bouts of political turbulence since an attempted coup in 2014.
