Janet Jackson is celebrating reaching an impressive milestone, earning more than $1 billion in her illustrious career in music and film.

The Rhythm Nation’ singer has hit a lofty milestone, with her personal wealth exceeding more than $1 billion this year, following an incredible career in entertainment spanning four decades, according to Variety.

The 47-year-old star – whose brother, the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, also amassed a vast fortune over the course of his career – is thought to have made her windfall from years of touring, album sales and roles in movies such as The Nutty Professor II.

Jackson reportedly made $458 million from various concert tours, a further $304 million from movie roles – including the Eddie Murphy comedy and Tyler Perry’s box office hit, For Colored Girls – as well as $268 million in album sales and $81 million in endorsement and sponsorship deals.

The famous Jackson sibling joins an elite club of celebrity billionaires including talk show queen Oprah Winfrey, legendary film director Steven Spielberg and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.

As well as her own fortune, Janet shares the wealth of her billionaire tycoon husband Wissam Al Mana.

The Control singer secretly wed the retail magnate, who earned his fortune investing in the Middle East, last year.

Although Jackson’s career has put her musical career on the backburner in recent years, the singer is planning a comeback this year to mark the 20th anniversary of her iconic album, ‘janet’.

She said earlier this month: “I am working on a new project now. We are creating the concept and initial thoughts on the music.”

A thank you message from Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson Okojie to her fans. The actress has been on maternity leave since she gave birth in December.

‘I want to say thank you to the fans, friends, colleagues and producers who were there for me. Many of them proved to be friends on and off work. Many adjusted their schedules for me and sent in their greetings during the child dedication. I resumed work this week with grateful heart and understanding that I am here because God through the help of people made it possible. Or how could I explain the overwhelming votes I got at AMVCA despite been away and inactivity on social media? How could I explain the numbers of producers and scripts waiting for my return? How could I explain the overwhelming love and gifts while I was away? I am very grateful and here to say a big thank you to everyone who played a role and those who as much as had good wishes in their hearts. Thank you and God bless you’

Mercy officially resumed work this week, she is back on location with director and producer, Elvis Chucks. This is Mercy Johnson’s first job since giving birth in December.

The Africa International Film Festival, AFRIFF, a platform for the world to zoom in on the talent and beauty of Africa through film, held a press parley and cocktail at Rhapsody Lounge, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Sunday 19 May2013.

The event, which was attended by various dignitaries and Nollywood stars, was used to present the 2013 edition of the festival which will take place in Calabar.

Among those who attended the event were Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River state, Oronto Douglas, Rita Dominic, Chioma Ude (Founder, AFRIFF), Emem Isong, Charles Nova, Kate Henshaw, Chioma Akpotha, Nse Clifford Sule, and Omoni Oboli.

Find photos below:

According to AFRIFF’s website, its theme is Africa unites. It draws on the principle that being African is a bond that goes beyond geography, birth or lineage; as people of African origin are spread across the globe and Africa is also a proud home to many non-Africans. The vision is to reflect a common true African identity and re-establish Africa as an original home to all.

It was a special moment for Fred Amata on Saturday 18th May, as celebrities and ex-Super Eagles played a novelty match at the Campus Square Stadium to mark his 50th Birthday.

The Ex- Super Eagles won the match by 5 goals to 3 against the celebrity side who also put up a spectacular performance.
Jay Jay Okocha who was the man of the match scored 3 goals to win the highest goal scorer award against the highly competitive AY who scored 2 fantastic goals for his team.

Hilarious moments during the match include the newly ported MTN Saka who came into the game with a “porting” problem of not knowing what direction to play from.

Frank Edoho of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire did a great job, but later chose the option of sitting in the audience, against phoning a friend or going for 50-50 like he would suggest on his show.

Nollywood Director Obi Emelonye was obviously missing “The Last Flight to Abuja” the way he was busy running around the field of play with the likes of Basorge, Okey Bakassi, Alibaba, Kcee and a host of others.
Even the combination of Aki and Pawpaw as one player to increase the celebrity side to 12 on the field of play, did not stop Victor Ikpeba, Peter Rufai, Mutiu Adepoju and the rest of the Ex- Super Eagles side from claiming the day.

The Golden Jubilee fiesta for Fred Amata, which was witnessed by lovers of entertainment and sports in Lagos, also saw the birthday boy giving himself a birthday present by stepping ahead of Sexy Steel to miss a penalty kick for the Celebrity side.

American rap artist, Kanye West is getting kicks for his latest album title ‘ Yeezus’ due to drop June 18 but he’s only just begun.

West’s girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, and co-manager Don C also appeared to confirm the title in a photo posted to Instagram.

This album Yeezus is coming after he released a single called I AM A GOD.

In March, it was rumoured Kanye plans to call his baby with Kim Kardashian ‘Khrist’ and a lot of blood boiled over. Thankfully, that rumour may not be true as another name ‘North-West’ has popped up and is leading the trail of names for their unborn baby.

The tiny-voiced actress shared her new movie promo today titled ’1 Million Boys’.

Despite her absence, the actress has managed to stay in the public consciousness by coming up with different controversies and stunts on Twitter, Facebook and on the pages of newspaper, on a regular basis.

Orjiakor, who launched a career in Nollywood around 2000, appears to have a penchant for suggestive roles. However, her appearance in the movie, Itohan, released in 2009, caused a stir. The movie did not go down well with the public.

In defence, she said the film was produced by Chico Ejiro in 2002 and that she was a victim of blackmail.

Check out her new movie promo below:

Nigerian music superstar Ayodeji Balogun known on stage as Wizkid has revealed that he will love to marry Barbados-born music star Rihanna should the opportunity present itself.

The 23-year-old Pakurumo hit singer is currently basking in international music success and while he is receiving a lot of attention from other women, he rather has his eyes on Diamonds singer Rihanna.

Listing five of his wildest and craziest dreams on the Volt on Channel 0, Wizkid disclosed that: “I will like to marry Rihanna.”

“I just wanna wake up in the morning looking in her face. Gosh that will be lovely,” he noted beaming with smiles.

Well with Rihanna’s relationship with Chris Brown once again hitting the rocks, Wizkid might have a shot at her as she could be on the hunt for a new man.

This will not be the first time the talented musician is professing love for a female celebrity.

Last year, he disclosed in an interview on The Juice on Ndani TV that he had a crush on 34-year-old Nollywood superstar actress, Genevieve Nnaji.

According to Wizkid, “I really had a crush on Genevieve until I met her and I realized she was my aunty. I love her. When I was a kid, I loved watching her movies. I met her when I was with my older uncles, they told her to come meet their boy (me) and I said ‘Good evening ma’. It is all good though, I still love you Genevieve.”

When teased by Toolz, host of The Juice if he could still date the 34-year-old screen goddess, he said, “Yea, definitely, but I doubt she would date me.”

Wizkid also disclosed that his wildest and craziest dreams include, robbing a bank with the help of his friends, robbing a shoe store and wearing a new pair every hour.

He said he will love to have a private party with Beyoncé, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj in one room. All the three divas to himself.

The Holla At Your Boy singer added that he will love to also chew his chicken bones in public.

Tosan Jemide unveiled his anticipated project “Tallest Cake in Africa” at the Silverbird Galleria in Lagos.

According to a rep for Tosan Jemide, the cake will be ten-tiered and will stand at the proposed height of 28ft in order to beat the current Guinness World Records, which is of about 26ft.

At a recent press briefing, he noted that “It is time that we took on another challenge. What better challenge than to build the tallest cake in Africa”. He also said that the project was tied to Africa in order to emphasize the positivity and creativity coming from the continent.

Nigerian sugar craft cakes maestro said 28ft master creation was inspired by his love for arts and crafts, passion for Nigeria, desire to blaze the trail, thinking not only outside the box but without the box as well as his understanding of the focus on Africa.

It was gathered that Guinness Book of Records team has been notified about the event. Any proceeds raised from the event will be used to raise funds for infrastructural development in Lagos public schools.

He is just 20 years, yet he looms larger than life. In less than three years of his entry into the music industry, David Adedeji Adeleke has become one of the most celebrated musicians in the country.

Davido, who is known for his generosity recently said in an interview, “I always try to give anytime I see a chance to help or encourage people; I can walk into any restaurant even though I am a star, order a plate of food that is worth N500 and give the seller N50,000. That’s my way of giving back to the society, that’s my way of encouraging the hustle of fellow Nigerians.”

“I don’t do it for publicity, unlike the time I gave N1m to a cancer patient , the media made it well known but it is was not my intention to make it a media affair but due to the fact that I am a celebrity, it goes out there.”
“I wanted to help give another person a second chance at life, my late mum didn’t have that. The woman’s death will affect so many people so helping save her is also helping make so many others happy,”
